MC Machinery Laser Applications Engineer Ryan Conroy explains the Mitsubishi laser technology called Extended Lifetime Structure (ELS), which increases the lifespan of each of the modules inside of the oscillator.
ELS wires each diode in the module in parallel—if one diode is lost, the others are not affected. This also lowers the load placed on other modules if one diode fails, preventing damage and allowing the machine to continue operating.
When ELS and Dynamic Power Reserve are combined, half of the diodes in a module would have to fail to result in power loss.
