What is Dynamic Power Reserve?

MC Machinery Laser Applications Engineer Ryan Conroy explains Dynamic Power Reserve (DPR), a technology used in Mitsubishi fiber laser oscillators to ensure stable, consistent processing. DPR maintains rated power throughout the lifetime of the oscillator by holding power in reserve. This prevents gradual or immediate power loss. With DPR, 50 percent of diodes in a module would need to fail to experience any type of power loss. To learn more about the technology preventing the loss of diodes, check out our video on Extended Lifetime Structure. LEARN MORE

What is Extended Lifetime Structure?

MC Machinery Laser Applications Engineer Ryan Conroy explains the Mitsubishi laser technology called Extended Lifetime Structure (ELS), which increases the lifespan of each of the modules inside of the oscillator. ELS wires each diode in the module in parallel—if one diode is lost, the others are not affected. This also lowers the load placed on other modules if one diode fails, preventing damage and allowing the machine to continue operating. When ELS and Dynamic Power Reserve are combined, half of the diodes in a module would have to fail to result in power loss. This technology allows MC Machinery to provide a five-year parts warranty on our fiber laser oscillators, which are fully serviceable in the field by our ...
