The first Friday in October is designated Manufacturing Day, with The Manufacturing Institute spearheading national efforts to attract the next generation of manufacturing workers.

Some of those efforts center around changing perceptions of manufacturing jobs, which are varied and have above-average incomes.

According to Deloitte and The Manufacturing Institute, there will be nearly 4 million job openings in the manufacturing industry over the next nine years.

Those jobs include everything from marketing, human resources and finance to applications, service/support, sales and much more.

Manufacturing is a massive industry that drives innovation.

A recent example: The many manufacturers that produced PPE during a global pandemic while facing supply chain issues and a host of other challenges.
